About the event

On Sunday Feb 11th, Sweet River Blue will host a feast day for the Slavic god, Veles.

We are a Blue Star Wiccan tradition group, who often worships within the Slavic pantheon.

This day is one of several different dates celebrated in Veles' honor across eastern Europe from the Baltic countries through Belarus, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and the Slavic countries of central Europe, and on down to Greece. A feast day celebration may be new to you. Our group will be providing different foods from these regions all throughout the day to our guests as an honoring of Veles. It is not a potluck.

You are invited to come and honor Veles with toasts and feasting and make offerings at his shrine here at Hay River FireHaven.

This will be an indoor event at “Haven House” in western Wisconsin from noon until 5pm. In honoring Veles, milk is a favored offering, as it is the “fruit” of the cow (one of his symbols) and a relevant expression of renewing abundance this time of year.

We do ask of you a few things:

  • Preregister at the Hay River FireHaven website so we have some idea of how many to prepare for.                                          https://www.hayriverfirehaven.org/event-details/veles-day-celebration-hosted-by-sweet-river-blue-coven-2                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Directions to site upon registration.
  • Take some time in advance to investigate and become familiar with Veles!  He has many stories and myths associated with him.
  • Bring an offering item, a song, a dance, a story, or words from your heart.                                                                                                                                                                 Libations always welcome!
